The European Parliament Energy and Environment Committees call for a 2030 binding target for renewables

In a draft resolution adopted today, the European Parliament Committees on Industry, Research and Energy (ITRE) and on Environment, Public Health and Food Safety (ENVI) call for an ambitious and legally-binding 2030 target for renewable energies.

LUKERG completes 82 MW wind farm in Romania

LUKERG Renew, the joint venture between Italy’s ERG Renew and Russia’s Lukoil – Ecoenergo, has completed a wind farm in the Romanian region of Tulcea.

The farm was put online last November and is currently in testing stage. The project has an 82 MW installed capacity and is fitted with Vestas turbines, with the company planning to add another 2 MW in the coming months.

The farm will generate 200GWh of electricity yearly, when it reaches full capacity.

Following the completion of the new wind project, LUKERG Renew increased its installed capacity locally to 150MW.

Romania’s president asks for re-examination of bill deferring green certificates

Romanian President Traian Basescu asked the Parliament to re-examine the law approving the government emergency ordinance no.57/2013, which defers some green certificates for renewable producers, claiming the European Commission, the executive arm of the EU, was not prenotified regarding the legal changes.

The renewable energy production reached a record figure at the end of last year, when the total capacity of the projects in the grid exceeded 3,757 MW, 60 per cent higher than in late 2012, according to data released by Transelectrica, Agerpres informs.
